Commission for ~Jotara4zutara. Requested for a scene with the series I started "After School Chaos" about the "zutara" necklace.

Sorry it took so long! I hope you like it! *big-puppy-eyes*

  • Haven't been on for almost 2 months.


  • My internet provider has been BLOCKING my dA message center and notes inbox often at random and annoying times (F*CKING A!).


  • I've been blowing up stuff in the chem lab (:D).


  • Piled up with research papers and presentations.


  • Still have other commissions and presents.


  • Gotta mail prizeart as well as this commission.


  • Finals are around the corner.


  • My puppy is 5 months old next week.


  • Currently checking out Resident Evil 5. Scared as hell to play (:XD:).


  • Gonna go see Dragonball Evolution because I wanna laugh at everything they do. :XD:

This is a beautiful piece, perhaps the best executed Avatar fanart (is it fanart if it's commissioned? ARE you a a fan? :p) I've seen on DA.

The background is wonderful, really atmospheric, technically clever, and understated enough to bring out the characters. It has a cinematic quality, as though they're about to spring to life.

The characters themselves are great likenesses, Katara in particular seems to give a lot of artists trouble (myself included!) but you've really got her perfectly right. There's a great sense of their relationship as well.

If there's one thing I don't like so much, it's these characters in a modern setting. With all the rich design and mythology of Avatar, I think it cheapens them a bit, but presumably that was part of the commission, so I can't blame you for it!

I hope you like my crit, it's my first go :D

I think you've drawn them beautifully. I love their expressions and the way Zuko's hair is covering his face. My one criticism would be that you seem to have gotten their hair colors backwards--Zuko's is lighter and definitely brown while Katara's is almost black (though in honesty, I do love the shades you've used).

Request: Zuko with a tux and a rose. I don't care of Katara's in the picture or not- I just got the image in my head one day and needed it to be drawn. :) This reminded me. And by the way, I love it. <3
