This is a beautiful piece, perhaps the best executed Avatar fanart (is it fanart if it's commissioned? ARE you a a fan? ) I've seen on DA.
The background is wonderful, really atmospheric, technically clever, and understated enough to bring out the characters. It has a cinematic quality, as though they're about to spring to life.
The characters themselves are great likenesses, Katara in particular seems to give a lot of artists trouble (myself included!) but you've really got her perfectly right. There's a great sense of their relationship as well.
If there's one thing I don't like so much, it's these characters in a modern setting. With all the rich design and mythology of Avatar, I think it cheapens them a bit, but presumably that was part of the commission, so I can't blame you for it!
I think you've drawn them beautifully. I love their expressions and the way Zuko's hair is covering his face. My one criticism would be that you seem to have gotten their hair colors backwards--Zuko's is lighter and definitely brown while Katara's is almost black (though in honesty, I do love the shades you've used).
Request: Zuko with a tux and a rose. I don't care of Katara's in the picture or not- I just got the image in my head one day and needed it to be drawn. This reminded me. And by the way, I love it. <3
